Hirelamp is a mentorship marketplace connecting young professionals and recent graduates with mentors from the companies or industries they want to work with. Candidates book a slot that's set by the mentor, pay the fee for an hour of the session and get coaching, mentoring, consultation or interview preparation assistance.
— How did you come up with the startup’s idea? What was the reason/motivation behind it?
Despite coming from different professional backgrounds, all four co-founders struggled in the job search and interview process. The lack of access to up-to-date information and the right people was the fundamental problem in that challenge. Having the technical co-founders in the team helped us to fast-track the prototyping process. We've launched the alpha version within 6 weeks. The key problem was related to the payment integrations. The first release happened in late June. We're planning the next getaway for early September.
— Tell us about the startup’s business model. How do you monetise your product?
We as the platform take a commision from the fee that mentors set. For the future, we're planning to integrate subscription and add-on sales with multiple products.
— What are your target markets and consumers?
Our target consumers are university students/graduates and young professionals with up to 5 years of experience. Key geographical markets are Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, and the Caucasus, the latter being the launch market as we're based in Baku, Azerbaijan.
—What are yourresults: metrics, income, or any clear indicators that can be evaluated?
We've been seeing promising results from the beginning as the virality factor of the mentors boosted the earned media metrics. Today we have more than 400 unique weekly visitors to the website. 40 mentors, working in high-profile companies around the world joined our platform.
— Have you already raised any investments?
We're a SABAH.lab resident startup. We've raised 15K USD in pre-seed investment.
— What's next? Tell us about your future plans.
Our ultimate objective is to build a talent pool that is checked and verified across multiple dimensions. So that when companies need a candidate, instead of going through 1000s of resumes, they can look at the 3 candidates matching the requirements. We believe with Hirelamp, early screening and assessment in recruitment can be eliminated.
