Startups HopShop and TextAndPayMe will represent Armenia at the EWC

The finals of the Armenian national stage of the Entrepreneurship World Cup 2022 (EWC) competition, one of the largest start-up competitions, were held at the American University of Armenia on 13 August. The first national stage of the competition takes place in each country, and then the winners move on to the international stage.

More than 100 startups applied for the national stage of the Entrepreneurship World Cup, of which 12 made it to the final. The winners were TextAndPayMe's funder Arthur Karapetian and Mihran Babayan; and HopShop founders Tigran Chakhalyan and Samvel Minasyan. 

TextAndPayMe is a banking keyboard that enables bank clients to send money in any messaging application, plus in any other application where they can find an input field.

HopShop is an app, that enables you to find and buy any fashion-related product you see in images or in real life. To do that, upload a photo of the item to the app and it will find relevant options.

The jury included David Sahakyan, Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, Hayk Margaryan, CEO of the National Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Christian Schellenberger, owner and CEO of Schellenberger Ventures GmbH, Karen Gulbudagyan, founder of Strategic Value Ventures, Ashot Tonoyan, Executive Director of Service Titan Armenian Branch. 

The national organiser of the Entrepreneurship World Cup 2022 competition in Armenia is the American University of Armenia Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EPIC). The national co-organizer of the competition is the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia.
