The incubation and acceleration programme, launched by IT Park Uzbekistan with the support of the USAID-funded Enterprise and Business Environment Development Project, Beeline Uzbekistan, TBC Bank and international community Wonder Women, took two days to select participants. Almost 150 candidates from five Central Asian countries applied, including more than 60 from Uzbekistan. Due to the large number of applicants, each of them was given no more than three minutes to present a startup and the same number of minutes to talk to the jury.
As a result of the pitches, 16 projects from Uzbekistan, 15 from Kazakhstan, 12 from Kyrgyzstan, two from Tajikistan and one from Turkmenistan were selected for the incubation and acceleration programme. Their authors will study for three months in an online format. Educational and strategy sessions with international experts, courses on financial literacy, public speaking, time management and other activities are waiting for the girls.
The most promising projects will be presented at an international exhibition of startups in Tashkent, as well as gain access to an investment platform and find investors.
As we mentioned earlier, Tumaris.Tech won the Capacity building category at WSIS 2022. Since 2012, WSIS has held an annual WSIS Prizes contest that celebrates the achievements of cities and regions in creating socially important IT services. WSIS Prizes are awarded in 18 categories for outstanding projects that mobilize the potential of ICT to accelerate socio-economic development around the world.
